SOFRANIAETH

On and about midsummer 1404, at the time of 'Troad y Rhod' Owain Glyndŵr establishes a Parliament at Machynlleth, and it is there, on 21 Mehefin in that year, that he is crowned 'Tywysog Cymru' by grace of God Owain IV; the last, present and future true Prince of Wales, of ancient Cymru.

On and about 21 Mehefin 2004, at Midsummer in time of 'Troad y Rhod', on the 600th anniversary of the aforementioned historical event, Embassy Glyndŵr organised a great national patriotic festival, a grand commemoration - a four day celebration of the coronation of Owain Glyndŵr. Most importantly, this great Gŵyl Owain Glyndŵr Genedlathol was, on 21 Mehefin 2004, marked with the first of an annual Pobl Glyndŵr 'Juratus Oweyn' ceremony, at which was declared that this day, hence, be marked as 'Dydd y Senedd'.

Not only is it intended to activelly encourage Pobl Cymru to annually recognise and observe this day of great historical signifigance, 21 Mehefin - Dydd y Senedd will also be the day upon which Pobl Glyndŵr may set forth in 'YMGYRCH SOFRANIAETH CYMRU'. The day will annually be aknowledged as the day to seek to remind of our homeland's National Sovereignty - and to safeguard and work towards fully restoring that National Sovereignty - which will only be possible when the Independence of our country is fully restored, asserted and affirmed in the re-establishment of SENEDD GLYNDŵR - SENEDD CENEDL CYMRU RYDD.

On 21 Mehefin 2007, Embassy Glyndŵr returned to Machynlleth, and as part of its annual 'Juratus Oweyn' ceremony on Parliament Green, presented 'Coron Glyndŵr' - 'Symbol of Sovereignty', to the people of Cenedl Glyndŵr.

This specially commissioned gift, crafted and donated by A.H.Lewis (RIP) renowned Welsh Silversmith and Patron in Chief of Embassy Glyndŵr, joins with 'Cleddyf y Cenedl - Sword of the Nation - Sword of Justice' as the new national treasures of Wales, replacing the ones stolen by Edward I at the time of Conquest of Cymru 1282 - 3 - 4. Cleddyf y Genedl,presented to the people of Machynlleth and Bro Ddyfi by Embassy Glyndŵr in 2004, can, at present be viewed at MOMA but in due course its permanant home is to be at Canolfan Senedd Dy Glyndŵr.

Coron Glyndŵr - Symbol of Sovereignty is now in the safe keeping of it's custodian Elfyn Rowlands of Cefn Caer, Pennal. Cefn Caer is a grade 2* listed building and a pre fifteenth century Medieval Hall House built on the remnants of a very importantly placed first century Roman fort. According to historians and a number of other sources, Owain Glyndŵr stayed at the medieval house during the time he set up his Parliament in nearby Machynlleth and was crowned Prince of Wales in the same town on 21 Mehefin 1404. It is reputed that he and his advisors also penned the famous 'Pennal Letter' at Cefn Caer, later presented to his parliament on 31 March 1406.

Elfyn Rowlands is an inspiration to us all; he has laboured, tirelessly, to take Cefn Caer back to its former glory as a medieval hall house - and all done, to date, out of his own pocket. He won a 'Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales Award in September 2004 for his hard work and commitment to the restoration. He is, without question a true 'Juratus Oweyn' man so, in view of Tywysog Owain Glyndŵr's associations with Cefn Caer and Elfyn's comittment and enthusiasm, Embassy Glyndŵr considers the house to be the most appropriate place to home Coron Glyndwr. Coron Glyndŵr has gone home! Coron Glyndŵr - Symbol of Sovereignty, now resplendent in display case at Cefn Caer - Home of Glyndŵr's Crown. However, hence once a year, on 21 Mehefin, it will be taken to Parliament Green for the annual ceremony of 'Juratus Oweyn', to mark 'Dydd y Senedd' also being, of course, 'Dydd Coroni Glyndŵr'. This annual midsummer ceremony, in time of 'Troad y Rhod' will, we hope, become the central point of a major midsummer National Patriotic Festival commemorating and celebrating the most historic of occasions in our homeland's history.
